The Role

We are seeking a qualified/part-qualified Internal Auditor to join Marshall’s internal audit and risk department and assist in providing independent assurance across risk, governance and internal controls. Field based with regular travel across our network of 100+ vehicle dealerships (up to a maximum of 50% travel), this role offers the support of funding and study leave for you to complete your qualification as well as a range of potential career pathways. Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager, this role is offered on a full time, permanent basis. Whilst we can be flexible on the location of the successful candidate, we are especially interested in discussing with individuals in the Milton Keynes/Oxford/Newbury areas.


What does a typical day involve?

  • Conducting business audits across our dealer network, following a risk based audit programme covering financial and operational risk areas
  • Managing audit projects from initial scoping and planning through to delivery of results and findings
  • Providing detailed qualitative and quantitative feedback following audits
  • Advising the business on appropriate measures to manage financial and operational risk
  • Building lasting relationships with the business and promoting the benefits of the internal audit programme
  • Contributing to internal audit meetings and providing input to the internal audit programme


What skills and experience do I need?

You will be a part qualified (or qualified) accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience from either practice or industry. You will have strong IT skills with intermediate to advanced level Excel skills. To complement your technical skills, you will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present audit findings in person and in report form
  • Stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at various levels
  • Willingness to learn and progress within the business

Due to the geographic nature of our business, a full EU driving licence is required. A company vehicle will be provided.
